Chapter 2

Quick Start

Follow this guide to get Solopreneur Operations Playbook up and running in your environment.

Quick Start

Don't try to implement everything at once. Here's the recommended sequence:

Week 1: Foundation

1. Read pages/00-overview.md and docs/how-to-use-this-playbook.md

2. Set up your weekly review using templates/weekly-review-template.md

3. Read pages/01-daily-weekly-monthly-systems.md — implement the daily shutdown routine

Week 2: Client Systems

4. Read pages/02-client-workflow-lead-to-cash.md

5. Map your current client workflow against the playbook's model

6. Start using templates/project-workflow-checklist.md for your next project

Week 3: Money

7. Read pages/03-money-systems.md

8. Set up your invoicing and expense tracking if not already in place

9. Implement the profit-first allocation method

Week 4: Optimization

10. Read pages/04-time-management-and-capacity.md

11. Read pages/05-tools-and-tech-stack.md — audit your current tools against databases/tools-stack.csv

12. Identify your top 3 SOPs to document using databases/sop-index.csv

Ongoing

  • Do the weekly review every week (20-30 minutes)
  • Do the monthly review on the first Monday of each month (60-90 minutes)
  • Document one new SOP per month using templates/SOP-template.md
  • Re-read pages/08-burnout-prevention.md whenever you feel the warning signs

FAQ

Q: I'm just starting out. Is this too advanced?

A: No. The best time to set up systems is before you need them. Starting with good habits is easier than fixing bad ones later.

Q: I already have systems. Will this help?

A: Yes. Even experienced solopreneurs find gaps. Use this as an audit tool — compare your current systems to each chapter and identify weak spots.

Q: This is a lot of content. Where do I start?

A: Follow the Quick Start above. The weekly review template is the single highest-impact thing you can implement. Start there.

Q: How is this different from generic productivity advice?

A: This playbook is specifically designed for people who run a business alone. It addresses the unique challenges of being the CEO, the worker, the accountant, and the janitor — all at once.

Q: Can I share this with my team if I hire people later?

A: Absolutely. The SOPs and processes in this playbook are designed to be handed off. That's the point — building systems that don't require you.
